Hey, I’m Dr. Weyoms, A radiator of God’s Hope and Light!

Your youth development best friend…
My name is Oritseweyinmi Erikowa-Orighoye. (Also called Dr Weyoms). I am a believer in Jesus Christ, radiating God’s love, faith and hope everyday and everywhere.
Oritseweyinmi Erikowa-Orighoye is on a mission to offer a unique experience by providing tailored consultation, mentoring, and interventions for young people in line with their God given goals and the global sustainable development goals where necessary.
Dr Weyoms’ aim is about guiding and not correcting behaviours towards positive healthy outcomes.
So far, she has helped hundreds of African youth to use their personal and professional development goals for social impact using their skills and experiences.
With over 5 years of experience in academia, I have developed a love for helping the youths find ways to develop themselves professionally and personally through their education, health, and more importantly their spiritual lives.
I am a Paediatrician with interests in environmental and public health. I am also an early career researcher in public health focused on a few sustainable development goals: zero hunger, good health and wellbeing, quality education, clean water, sanitation and hygiene, reduced inequalities, sustainable cities and communities, climate action and partnerships for goals.
I am a final year PhD student at the Leeds Beckett University, UK. My PhD focused on parental involvement in promoting healthy diet and physical activity among children.
I enjoy planning and organising sustainable development projects in health, education, and the environment under a few organisations such as Coastal and Marine Areas Development Initiative and Action GX, Adolescent Health Hub in several schools and communities.
In recent times, I have expanded my expertise by providing advisory support on community projects in the areas of health and education to a few non-governmental organisations across the globe.
With my experience as a young person who has navigated through good and poor choices in personal and professional development, my passion has grown in sharing my faith, life experiences, lesson learned, knowledge gained and expertise in personal development to see that a young person makes better choices.
I am a global health mentor for the Global Health Mentorships (Sweden), Progeny Cerebrum (Nigeria) and Counselling Team Lead (Ruach Teens Wellspring, Nigeria). In August 2020, I piloted my first youth development program for senior secondary school students, school leavers and undergraduates.
I created a growth mindset journal for young people. It is designed to help them navigate through each month in their life’s journey.
When I am not doing any of the above mentioned activities, I am enjoying life by visiting museums, learning a new language or travelling with my family.
Areas of focus: research in nutrition, physical activity, WASH, Adolescent Health, non-communicable and neglected tropical diseases, school health, climate action; youth interventions in health, education and environment; mentorship and development.
